🔋 DIY 12V Portable Soldering Iron Battery Pack from Recycled Vape Cells 🔧

In this video, I’ll show you how I built a compact 12V lithium battery pack for my portable soldering irons (TS100 & SH72) using salvaged vape batteries and a few other repurposed parts. This is a great project if you love recycling, working off-grid, or just want a compact and rechargeable solution for your tools.

💥 I harvested 15 used 400mAh cells from vape pens and configured them in a 3S5P setup, giving me around 2000mAh at 12V—plenty of power for field soldering jobs. I also added a volt-amp meter for real-time monitoring, all housed inside a modified AA battery case.

What You’ll Learn in This Video:

  • How to build a lithium battery pack from vape cells
  • Why cell balancing is crucial before wiring in series
  • Using TP4056 modules for safe charging
  • Monitoring power usage with a volt-amp meter
  • Building a DIY soldering setup for mobile use

🧰 Parts & Tools Used:

  • 15x 400mAh lithium cells from vape pens
  • 3D printed voltmeter case (model from Printables)
  • TP4056 lithium charging modules
  • DIY spot welder / soldering iron
  • Volt-amp display module
  • Recycled AA battery pack housing

🧪 The final result: a portable, high-current, and compact 12V power source for soldering irons, with power monitoring and modular charging.
