In this video, I build a simple DIY motion sensor that sends instant notifications to your mobile phone — without hubs, smart home systems, or complicated setups.
The whole project is made from spare parts I already had, including a Sonoff device, a motion sensor from an alarm system, and a few basic components. No Home Assistant, no Zigbee hub, no gateway — just simple hardware and cloud notification.
🔧 What this project does:
Detects motion near an entrance or door
Sends a push notification to your phone
Works standalone, no smart home ecosystem
Can also turn on a lamp for a few seconds
Uses Sonoff inching mode (auto off timer)
🧩 Parts used:
Sonoff smart socket
Motion sensor (alarm system type)
Inverted relay
Power supply (12V–220V)
Enclosure
Wires and basic tools
This solution is perfect if you want a cheap, simple, and reliable motion alert system without overengineering.
If you enjoy DIY electronics, repurposing hardware, and simple automation, this video is for you.
